a little blogging break for me...

Hello, Friends!

It seems to me that a little blogging break is in order!

My life feels a little too full right now (not in a stressful or bad way) and a bunch of new things are coming my way, so I need some time to breathe and focus, if you know what I mean!  Sometimes computer time is what needs to get smaller while life changes a bit.

You can still find me on Instagram and Facebook during this time.

I will be back in a few weeks...

I know we are all busy getting kids ready for school, harvesting gardens, and just enjoying the last of the warm weather before fall arrives.  This time is year is busy, for sure!

I did manage to get some sewing time in last week, but only enough to finish a project halfway.  This week will be the second half, apparently.

Another ruffle apron is on it's way.  One more ruffle to go, and straps and I will be done.

Hello, Friends!

SHOW AND TELL TUESDAY is here once again!

And I have something to show you, although it's in the beginning stages.

I have a bunch of ruffled aprons cut out, and a few of the seams sewn up.  So far, so good.  These are always pretty successful and cute.  Plus I end up with ruffles when I am done...always good!

This one is also going to become a pattern quite soon.  I can't wait to get it done!

Welcome to SHOW AND TELL TUESDAY!

The weeks these days are just flying by, don't you think? It's like summer is attempting to make a quick exit.

Just yesterday I was talking to a friend and we both agreed that we don't feel like we have gotten enough fun out of this season.  So my goal is that for the next few summer-y weeks, is that I will get outside more and have fun.  Too soon the weather will turn cold, which of course, means more sewing time, and that has it's benefits too.

So, I finished my bow-tie quilt top, and I am pretty happy with it.  I do wish I had more fabric to make it bigger, but only a few prints had extra, so I went with keeping it small with more print diversity.

Next up is sandwiching and quilting. I have no idea what to add on the back, simply because the front has so many vintage prints.  Seems wrong to add something new on the back...

It's always fun to see a quilt blowing in the wind, don't you think?

garden progress

This year my garden is growing oh-so nicely!

The focus is on three things only: corn, tomatoes and onions.  I should have known that whittling things down to the basics would be successful!  In the past I have always taken a "let's do it all" approach and it's been frustrating, to say the least.  

Especially since I really don't know how to garden.

I had planned on the ripe corn being spaced out over a few weeks (that's how it was planted) but I think the weird, cool weather at the beginning of the season has made it so that I am going to have a whole bunch of ripe corn, all at one time. Apparently, learning how to freeze corn is in my future!

The tomatoes are doing fine too. They like the heat and humidity we are having these days.  A couple of days to wait until I pick my first one.  

And I can't wait for that!

A vine-ripened tomato with salt and pepper is perfection!

And sunflowers.  Aren't they just the happiest flower ever?
