Can I just say that I am so glad it's Friday?
And that I feel really good about getting some sewing done this week? Finally!
It's a good thing to rediscover how relaxing it is to create.
And it almost makes me glad that fall is coming...almost. Fall seems to provide more sewing time for me.

This week Aubry and I made some new pillowcases for her bed!
Pillowcases are a fun and simple way to add lots of color and fun, without spending a lot of money. This also brings up my own desire to re-make the ones on my own bed (shown in the picture) in order to use some of the fun, new prints in my shop. These ones on my bed now will go in the den to snuggle with while watching TV.
I do have a favorite go-to tutorial that I always use, but I found a few more that seem like good choices. And most are perfect as a beginner sewing project!

Hello, Friends!
It is SHOW AND TELL TUESDAY once again!
And I am lovin' my new graphic. Please feel free to replace the old one with this one. It's much more pleasing to the eye, don't you think? I made the previous one, and had a friend make this one. I think I need to stick to the business of quilting and crafting, and leave the graphic design to someone who knows what they are doing.
Baby bibs are done! And as usual, I love patchwork. It's fun to show off so many favorite prints. Lots of eye-candy, if you ask me!
To make these, I found an inexpensive bib at the store and I just used it as a pattern, adding 1/4" all around for seams. Velcro is used for the bib "snap", and that is hot-glued on to keep it secure.

Ah, Summer, I love you.
I love the heat, I love the green, I love the playful feeling you bring.
This year our weather has been a bit odd because of all the rain we have been having. It's a bit more humid than usual, but it's so much more green around here than I am used to.
And I LOVE that!
Earlier in the season I planted these Black-Eyed Susans in front of my kitchen window. They took the place of my roses, which were killed by deer than roam around our house.
Really, I just got tired of trying to fight for territory in my own yard.
Pick your battles, right?
So, the guy at the nursery assured me that deer do not like these particular flowers, and I am happy to say that he was correct! They are growing very nicely, with tons of blooms that don't fade. They just stay bloomed.
Loving it!

Hello!
I hope this is a lovely Tuesday for you!
It's SHOW AND TELL TUESDAY, and I have something to show you. It is in the starting stage, but I only have until Friday to finish this, so next week I will have an actual finished project to show you. Woohoo! I must say that will feel pretty good.
It's about time!
At this point, I need to cut squares from these prints, 16 from each stack to be exact. I am making baby bibs for an up-and-coming baby girl. Patchwork bibs are so fun and so cute. Can't wait to get these finished!

Raspberry Jam is a summer family favorite!
Generally we can it once a year, making enough jars to last 12 months...or generally just under 12 months. We always have that one month where we have to buy store-brand jam, which allows us to appreciate ours so much more!
This recipe takes a while, because it doesn't not use pectin, which allows for less sugar. So basically, two jars at a time, about 35 minutes per set. This little project of ours takes an afternoon!
I found the recipe a number of years ago on Martha's website. It's simple and we love it.

Pom-poms are simply fun!
This week in sewing camp I have a younger group, so we are making very easy projects. The girls did all of the sewing on the scarves, but a friend and I added the fringe. They were very happy with their finished projects!
As usual, at the end of class I have them take a "silly" picture. They are usually so "over it" by this time, and it's a good change of pace to do something funny...for them and for me!

Hello, Friends!
It's time for a little bit of SHOW AND TELL!
These days all of my crafting/sewing time is taken up with classes. It's good fun, but I am missing my sewing machine!
This week I am teaching 6-9 year old girls about fabric-y fun. The girls made fabric hearts, and they were all so proud of their projects. Tomorrow we are making headscarves with pom-poms on the edges. They were pretty excited about that!
Maybe I need to make one for myself???
