Hello, Friends!

Thank you for visiting on SHOW AND TELL TUESDAY!

This week I have made absolutely no sewing progress on anything. But I am planning ahead.  Girl's summer sewing camps are coming!

I am planning on two camps this summer and each will last three days, with 3 projects for each camp.  So, samples are being made.

In the first camp we will make pajama shorts, using four fabrics, just for fun!  I think I may actually  make some of these for myself...I sense cuteness ahead!

Another project in the works is a skirt.  I am without newsprint paper to draft the pattern, so I need to get some pattern paper.  This one is coming soon also.  I will be using this tutorial.

get out of the kitchen!

So, my oldest son was home from college last week.

We had a great time visiting...he is so fun to be around.

But I am glad he is gone.  At least my waist-line is!   He likes to eat.  And I like to cook.  And I am pretty sure I gained 5 pounds last week between the oatmeal cookies, calzones, blueberry muffins, fried chicken and all the rest.

Give me some good-for-me food!

It's funny how much I am not able to eat like that anymore.  I gain weight, I feel tired, my stomach hurts.

This summer when he is home I will have to figure out how to have him here, but maintain my girlish figure at the same time.

He might not like it that much...but I will.

Welcome to SHOW AND TELL TUESDAY, Friends!

I was making great progress on my quilt the other day when, low and behold, I realized that I had failed to change things up to Dual-Feed mode on my machine.  So, all of the lines that I did sew are all tugging to one side of the quilt.

Aaargh!

And I had made a good amount of progress.  This, of course, equals a good amount of seam-ripping ahead of me.

That day I did have an unusual distraction that kept my attention, so I will use that as an excuse, OK?  I hate to think I was just rushing through things without thinking. I am much more mature than that!

Really, I am!

coming soon...

...a garden!

I am so excited!  This weekend was "gettin' the garden ready" time!

Since it has been quite a while since I have gone all out and planted an actual garden in my garden space, it was a complete mess.  I don't even know how many wheelbarrow loads of junk I carried out!  And the weeds...

WEEDS!

If the weeds from the last few years that accumulated there are any indication of the plants that will grow there, I am going to have quite the crop!

That said, I need to do some work on preventing weeds and I would love any advice you have to give!

Now that it is all cleaned out, I am surprised at how much space I have to work with.  And the dirt is so soft and fluffy.  Do I need to say that I am quite happy with that?

doe goodness

I have a most-lovely friend who loves all things "modern-quilting"!

She is so talented and creative, and she truly has the cutest kids ever...besides my own, of course!  You might know her...Jessica @ Hunter's Prize?  I consider myself lucky to know her in real-life!

Doe was a much anticipated collection for Jess, and I am so happy to see what she made from the fabric.  I do love the solid stripes with the little snippets of Doe sewn in.

Her selection of solids is quite impressive.  I wouldn never have thought to put some of these colors together, but it certainly works.  This is one of the things that I love about the sewing community---we can glean new ideas and styles from each other and not get stuck in our own usual way of doing things.

For the backing, Jessica wanted to keep things simple and modern, while adding a little bit of color.  She always adds some fun piecing to her backs, and I love that.  Might as well make the back as good as the front, I think!

show and tell tuesday

Hello!

Welcome to SHOW AND TELL TUESDAY, where we show off all of our fabric-y projects, during any stage of completion.  A new fabric  pile you are  ready to work with?  Or a brand-new quilt all finished?  Post your progress in the linkys at the bottom of this post.

I wish I could say that I had some washi tape and a distressed barn on which to tape this quilt to in order to take pictures, but my reality steers more towards masking tape and my garage door.

I would say it works though, don't you think?

My motivation is high in getting this one sandwiched and quilted. I can't wait to see it finished.  Of course, my hold-up is time, but I do hope to have a lot of quilting progress my next Tuesday!

Whining about how much I dislike winter is getting boring...for me and for everyone else around me!

show and tell tuesday

Hello, Friends!

It's SHOW AND TELL TUESDAY once again!

I have all of my blocks done for this quilt!  

It was exciting to find that the size I am shooting for only needs 16 blocks (4X4), rather than 25 (5X5) with the sashing.  It's been years since I have added sashing to a quilt, so it's a good thing I took a break and checked!

At this point I have a total of 4 quilts that need to be machine-quilted.  Yikes!  That's a bit of a back-log.  As soon as my batting arrives, I am going to get to work.  So, yes, you can expect a few weeks of quilting pictures coming soon!
