i have to say...

peeps: love 'em? hate 'em?

Peeps!

Oh my goodness, these are the quitessential Easter candy, don't you think?

And there seems to be two camps when it comes to these sweeties: you either love 'em or you hate 'em.

And I am wondering which camp you are in!

Me? Well, in all honesty I am a hater.  First up, I think they are funny looking.  Kind of like walruses on sleds.  And the taste?  Eeeew!  And the texture?  Double eeeew!

But I do love Peeps lovers! I have several good friends who can't get enough of these! I even have one friend who buys them, opens them, and lets them sit out in the air until they harden to a texture she just loves. 

Too funny!

I have made only small progress on my triangle quilt since painting  and doing taxes consumed most of my time.  But it's still progress!

All of my pieces are together, so now I can look forward to sewing the rows up.  And using my new, almost completed, design wall.  Pics to come!

this weekend i...

...painted my room!

And the color came out perfect!

I was initially a bit concerned about it since the previous color on my walls made this one look sky blue, rather than the green-blue I wanted.  But I forged ahead and was happy to find that the color matched the paint sample perfectly.

Now to start adding things to the walls...although I need extra money for that.  Maybe a quilt for above the headboard?  I have all the supplies for that one on hand.

But that would mean starting another quilt besides the 3 I have going now.

Yikes!

If I had some extra money, I would be buying some lovelies from here, here or here.

Maybe I like it just the way it is, for now.

i wish there was a prize for this sort of thing

My machine is tuned-up and ready to go!  And apparently it's a REALLY good thing I had it serviced.

My friend's husband took care of it, and according to him, this was one of the worst messes he had pulled out of a machine in a long time.

I guess that is what comes from neglecting maintenance for so very long!

I haven't had a chance to use my machine yet, but I expect the tension will be right and the stitches even.  Also, I will do a better job of pulling out my thread from top to bottom (rather than pulling it out up by the spool), because that was an obvious problem in the fixing too.

Old habits die hard!

test drive

Oh my goodness!

I got to test drive my dream machine the other day!

A friend of mine is a Janome dealer and she let me finish up a quilt on one of her demo models (the one I am pining for, to be exact!).

I quilted the 2nd half of this quilt is about 30% off the time it took to do the 1st half on my regular machine.  Oh geez, I love speed!  

Actually, the big workspace also helped a bunch.  Just being able to see where I was going and where I was coming from sped things up.  

Sounds a lot like life, eh?

So, I am saving my pennies for this one.

It's gonna be mine.

I have some progress on my triangle quilt.  And I am loving these colors more and more!

Lots of little flags are covering my sewing table.  I always this point in piecing.  It's such a fast progress time!

Unfortunately my sewing machine had to take a trip to the doctor, so my progress is stuck here for a couple of days.  I guess not getting it serviced for years has taken it's toll.  The tension is off and I am sure that it is filled with dust and gunk.  Filled, I tell ya!

As soon as she gets back, I will continue on!

going with blue

Once again, please excuse the bad picture.  There is a lighting problem in my bedroom, apparently!

I have decided to go with the blue-ish paint color.  It's a bit grey-green also, and I love it.  This surprised me, really.  I expected to go with green, but I am stuck on this picture that I found on Pinterest (sorry, no link!) and I want to use the blue color.

This weekend is out for painting (boo-hoo) because I need to get my taxes together (double boo-hoo!).  Hopefully next weekend I can make this happen!
