At least on a small scale.
I used some of my extra apple core pieces to piece together a test section, and surprisingly, all went well.
Pinning (and lots of it) was essential, and this will be a new venture for me. Normally I don't hang out with pins very much.
Also, sewing the seams exactly the same as I attached each piece was necessary. Any small variation in seam size led to a wave in the fabric piece. In other words, the pieces didn't lay flat. There was always a little bit of extra fabric that bumped up on the side if the seam was even 1/16" off. The seam ripper was called into action a couple of times to fix that.
Please take a moment to savor my perfect seam match-up. I am pretty happy (and surprised) about this:
So, pins and perfect seam allowances will be my constant companions with this quilt.
Making new friendships is always a good thing, don't you think?
