First off, I have to mention that it is no easy feat to take a good picture of an ironing board. Besides chasing the sun around the windows of my house and dealing with shadows, it's a very awkward shape for photographs. Hopefully I am giving you a good idea in pictures of what we will be sewing this next month!
I figure that if I have to iron, I might as well do it with some cuteness going on. Do you agree?
Here is the supply list for this project:
One 24" X 42" piece of fabric
One 3" X 42" piece of fabric
One 20" X 42" piece of fabric
4-1/3 yards of 7/32" cording
When purchasing your fabric, just take the bolts up to the cutting table and ask for one 24" piece, one 3" piece, and one 20" piece. These should coordinate in color and print. You will have some leftovers for your fabric stash after this project!
Also, you can use a larger cording if you want to. You can purchase this at Joann's Fabrics or Hobby Lobby. I also have it available in the ironing board cover kits in my shop.
That's it!
You may use any fabrics that you like, but I do suggest using a nice quality quilting cotton. Knit fabrics will not work for this project.
I have set up a listing for a kit in my shop (please note that the price is for fabric priced at $10 per yard. If the cost of your fabric choices are more or less, I will adjust through a refund or an invoice).
If you are planning on sewing along, please leave a comment in this post and join the Flickr group. The sew-along will start on February 14th and will include 3 tutorials during that week, and we will end with a chat room on Thursday. Last month's chat room was fun!
Happy sewing!
