When I was a teenager I lived with my dad. We were an odd couple, to be sure. He was (is) meticulous and organized, while I was an undependable slob. Many Saturday mornings I was awaken by the thud of the vacuum slamming on my door and I am pretty sure that this had more to do with my dad's desire to see me out of bed before noon, than his desire for a clean carpet.
My dad is a Volkswagen-man. He loves them. He has owned many throughout the years and during my turbulent teenage years he was the proud owner of two: a bus and a beetle. I disliked them both, but among the two, the bus I despised. This may be the reason that my dad would only drive me around in the bus, the beetle always seemed to be having problems when I needed a ride. When I turned 16 my dad offered to let me drive the bus as long as I paid the insurance, but I quickly declined and took to pounding the pavement and waiting at bus-stops in order to avoid the humiliation of the bus.
When I was 17 and I met my husband-to-be, I was promptly made aware that I was making a huge mistake by not driving the bus because it was, after all, the coolest surfer car around. Being the thick-headed girl that I was, I again declined the offer of the bus. There was no convincing me!
Well, times have changed and so have I. Not only am I more meticulous and organized these days (I am also very dependable!), but I am also a proud Volkswagen lovin-mama. Someday when my kids are grown and I don't have the need to drive a mini-van, my dream is to own a convertible Volkswagen bug. The thought of zipping around town in one makes me smile!
Well, when I was picking out fabric from Sew, Mama, Sew, I knew that I had to have some of this VW-inspired fabric (there are a couple of other cuties thrown into the picture as well!):
The first time I browsed the site the VW fabric was out of stock, but the next day there was some available. Do I need to mention that this made me happy?
I don't have any idea what I will be making out of my VW-fabric, but I will surely figure that out soon!
Also worth noting is this adorable ladybug fabric:
It is a thick canvas-like fabric and the bugs are as big as my hand. Again, I am not sure what it is going to become, but I will know as soon as inspiration arrives!
Have a lovely Monday!
