The craft show this weekend was a success! The first day was much more fruitful than the second, but I suppose that you have to take these things in stride, correct? After rearranging my booth about 100 times (no joke!), I came up with a set-up that, upon inspection in pictures after the show, may have been too cluttered for people to see what I had available. I can't decide if putting everything out works best, or putting samples of everything is the way to go. This is all a live-and-learn situation for me!
This particular show was in conjunction with lots of music, food and fun. A fiddling contest the first day and a Gospel Hootenanny the second day provided a fun, family atmosphere for the people attending. The music was a nice backdrop for the weekend and a diversion for my hubby and kids!
We did have a major storm roll through on the first day that shut the show down. My entire family was squished inside my tent, holding poles so they didn't get yanked away with the wind and watching for rain leaking through the roof. I felt like we were stuffed into a basement bathroom during a tornado! All was well, and in the looking back it all seems funny!
During a lull I was taking pictures of Aubry and her blue balloon while an older woman watched me quietly. When I noticed her standing there she seemed a little misty-eyed, maybe thinking of the days when she did the same with her little one, and then she proceeded to buy a bag from me. We talked for a while and she impressed upon me the shortness of these wonderful years, and I assured her that I sense the shortness deep in my heart. Not one day goes by without my thoughts wandering to that place.
I came home on Saturday evening to find a wonderful package sitting on my porch: a gigantic fat quarter pack from the Moda Uptown Collection. It is all washed and ready to work with! I am certainly looking forward to doing some fun crafting for myself and not worrying about selling anything!
Today you will find me getting my house together after a long, busy weekend, and taking some moments surrounded by fabric, matching, sorting and planning. Matching, sorting, planning.
Have a lovely Monday!
