So, it was Christmas tree cutting weekend!
For the last few years we have been purchasing a permit from the BLM for $15 and cutting our own tree out in the woods. It's fun and the tree lasts a lot longer than those we used to buy from tree lots.
Of course, my husband used this day as an opportunity to go 4-wheelin' in the old mini-van. Honestly, I am surprised that we didn't bottom out in a couple of places. He is a fun guy like that!
The tree we picked was huge! We left some of the bottom part on BLM land (which is permitted), and we still had to cut off four feet when we got home. The tip of the tree touches our vaulted ceiling!
As always, we made donuts and ate them after we decorated the tree. Geez, those buggers are good! I made a batch of 3 dozen and we only have 6 left. My family can eat donuts like crazy!
Today we are starting our Elf on the Shelf tradition. My kids are excited about it and they will be helping since they are older. I have our names on the calendar and each of us will have a few times to get Mr. Elf ready for the rest of the family. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!
Have a great day!
