thursday sale and giveaway!

It's the last Thursday in July!  No way!  We are barreling so quickly through summertime that I think I might cry.  Boo-hoo!

This is the last Thursday sale and giveaway, so let's do it up right.

Well, the whole already-on-sale section is 35% off!  That translates to $4.23 per yard!  There are some wonderful goodies just waiting to complete your fabric stash.  I made the mistake of starting the sale on the wrong day using Etsy on Sale, so the prices will be reflected starting at midnight tonight. If you want a custom-listing earlier than that, just convo me and I will set up a listing with the sale price.  Sorry, no fat quarter cuts with this sale.

on to binding

Thank you for all the sweet comments on Aubry's quilt post yesterday. She was thrilled to read them and now she wants to start a blog of her own.  I told her we need to wait on that, but she can post here once in a while.  She already had blog posts churning about in her head!

I am ready for binding on my two baby boy quilts.  Binding is my least favorite step in making a quilt, but since they are so small, it should be quick.  And simple since I will be machine-binding.

After this I will be making some bibs and maybe some burp cloths.  Receiving blankets will work too.  Obviously, I know that I need two more boy gifts, but I am directionless.  It will all come together when it needs to!

a bunch o' boys!

I know 4 lovely ladies who are expecting baby boys over the next few weeks, so, of course, some sewing needs to be done!  Now, I don't know if that will translate into 4 quilts, but I am making some good progress on one. 

This is one of those super-easy quilts made with 8" squares and I love how it shows off the fabric in the Children at Play line.  My only regret is that at least one of those lovely ladies is not having a girl, because the girl prints are just delightful.  The boy prints are GREAT, but the girl prints really call my name, you know?

I have one other quilt all cut out and ready to go.  Hopefully a bit of sewing time will come my way and I can work on it too.  It feels like a crush of time is all that's available to make everything, but sometimes for me, that's good.  I need a deadline to get things done.

I am just coming out of the Children at Play frenzy that has been happening this last week.  I have NEVER had a line sell so quickly, so this past week was pretty much consumed with cutting and shipping, cutting and shipping.  Good stuff, but I am glad to have things back to normal!

Can you belive it's already July 21st?  I am completely uncomfortable with the fact that it's almost time to start thinking about another school year.  This summer has been such a fun one that I hate to let it go!

something a little different for me

I decided to try something a bit outside of my norm.  A bit wonky, no plan for color, and a rule not to spend too much time making it "perfect".  I didn't worry about placement as much as I usually do, and as far as fabric, I just picked what I liked assuming the tones were similar.

This is a small wallhanging measuring 2-1/2' X 2-1/2'.  My initial plan was to hang it in the kitchen, but it doesn't match at all, so another place will have to be decided upon.

The only part I am not entirely  happy with is the yellow for the sashing.  It seems to "sweeten" it up too much for me, but other than that I am pretty happy with the result.

I certainly expect to make more quilts outside of my norm!  Paper-piecing is on my list of things to  learn and hexagons are coming soon.
