I have two quilts all ready for binding. Yeah! It feels good to be so close to finishing something.
The two quilts provided lots of practice for me, and I am finally at the stage where I feel pretty confident with machine-quilting. I didn't spend the whole time worried about bunching fabric and crooked lines!
In the background you can see the quilts that I use to insulate the wooden boxes of soap that I made. I made two batches and one of them is the ugliest batch I have ever seen. It was meant to be a lovely shade of pink since I used pomegranate juice as the liquid, but the lye reacted with the juice and turned it a horrifying shade of, well, baby poop. Seriously, this stuff was ugly! I suppose it is going to be for me only. Luckily, the scent is still wonderful. The other batch is a beautiful ginger-lime. It's always hard to wait the 30-day curing time before using the bars!
Have a happy day!
