On Saturday we had Karate testing and I earned my green belt! I am very excited about it because now I am one belt away from my brown belt and that seems like quite an accomplishment to me. My hubs and boys are already brown belts and I am behind them because I took a 6-month break from classes. Of course this lead to me forgetting all of my forms and frantically trying to relearn them over the last couple of weeks. It feels great to be caught up again!
I never noticed that I make such funny faces when I am doing Karate! These are actually the good pictures. The other ones are even worse. I am going to have to find a way to smile and look tough at the same time. Do you think that is possible?
My guys did not test this time, but they did demonstrate their mad Karate skills:
They inspire me to do a better job.
It is about time for me to buy my sparring gear. I have been putting it off because, honestly, I have no idea how to fight. If pulling hair and scratching were involved I could probably find my way, but trying to determine when to punch or kick is absolutely foreign to me. Jumping in and just doing it seems the best way to go and I hope to learn as I go along. I just hope to avoid black-eyes and missing teeth.
Here is my hubs receiving a kick in the gut:
I guess he will have to show me how to take it like a man, right?
