This time of year always inspires me to make a few skirts. Being in jeans and sweatshirts for the cold months leaves me ready for sunshine outdoors as well as on myself. Plus skirts leave me feeling a bit more girly than usual, and that isn't a bad thing. Besides, my hubs loves it!
A wrap skirt seemed a simple place to start, and believe me, if I can do the math on this one, so can you. My waist measurement surprised me, and not because it was too small, but I was mature about the whole thing and stuck with that number rather than making the skirt with a number that felt right. Honestly, I am one of those people who has been known to buy clothes that are too small just to avoid buying a larger size than what I feel comfortable with. I hope there is at least one other person who does this too, otherwise I have to feel like a goober for revealing that info.
I added ties for closure and a small hole in the seam for threading the ties through. Darts were also needed to make the skirt fit properly around my waist:
So far I haven't worn the skirt due to the cold weather's return, but it is hanging in my closet ready for a sunny day. Snow and rain are dominating the forecast this week, but we need the moisture more than the sunshine at this point.
My cat was in the mood for a photo shoot and wouldn't leave no matter how hard I try to shoo her away. She is a stinker like that. Actually that is one of the reasons that I like her.
I hope your day is a good one!
