a kitchen set tutorial

Img_2128
With Christmas just around the corner, I have been busy sewing and creating.  One gift idea I am making this year is a potholder-towel set made in colors picked especially for certain people.  You could pick your fabrics to match a kitchen, or someone's personality.  Once you get the hang of these, they sew together very quickly!

If you are interested in making these, simply click here and have fun!  Basic sewing skills are necessary (turning your machine on, threading it, sewing a straight line and stuff like that!) and a  beginner should be able to make these as long as you take your time.  Your second set will be the time to speed things up!

Happy sewing!

***Please contact me with questions or if you spot mistakes in the tutorial.  Thanks!

Those are fantastic. I think I'll give 'em a go.

This is an awesome tutorial, Randi! Everything is very clear and the pictures are great! I think I will be buying some fabric to make some of these for myself : ) I saw the perfect combination in your store.

Hi Randi, this is a great tutorial! I am going to try to make a few of these for Christmas!

I do have one question, does the fabric cover the entire back of the towel? Or only the bottom part? That is the only thing I could not tell form the photos. It seems like it does from reading the tutorial, but I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks!

Great tutorial! I'll have to try some of those sometime soon.

I'll be coming back here tomorrow to take a look-see.
Thanks!
Lori

What a great idea! Thank you for the directions. I saw a set last year and have been collecting waffle towels from the dollar spot this year. I was wondering how to make them! I will definately add the pot holders to the set!

thanks, randi! great idea...will be putting it to use.

they're beautiful thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing the tutorial! I will have to try making some of these.

Great tutorial. It is going on my crafting list. I love the colors you used too.

Oh, I was still going to attempt some aprons, but now I may have to switch to these, they are lovely!!!

You are great!!!

Great tutorial, Randi! I have a set similar to this on my to do list for Christmas. I love your dishtowel idea...really pretty!

I saw your post earlier, and thought about about making some for myself, when my husband suggested that we should give them for Christmas. Since then, ideas of fabric combinations have been spinning in my head! Thanks again for the inspiration!

That is a great tutorial Randi. Looks fantastic. I'll have to give them a try.

This looks like fun and a great gift idea! thanks for sharing! I hope your spirits are a bit better today I have a hard time with how fast the girls are all growing up I can't imagine what it will be like when it is time for them to move out. miss ya and chat with ya later.

Those are great I love the color!

Thank you for the tutorial! I'm going to try to make these for Christmas gifts this year

looks like a great Christmas present idea!

Excellent tutorial Randi - lots of great step by step photos. This would be a great project from my daughter who is learning to sew. Love the Farmers Market fabric you are using - looks very effective.

Hi Randi,

What a fun idea! I love the one you shared. I think I'll give this a try.

thanks for the great idea...i am trying to do a homemade christmas(although that is complicated by moving right before christmas) and have been searching for great ideas for all family members.

Wow, that looks like a great project. I looked through the pictures and instructions, and it looks easy to follow too! Thank you for sharing this with us. Just in time for gift-making season. BTW, I love the fabrics you chose. Now I just need to get some of those plain towels.

I am going to try that! You write such good tutorials.

Fabulous! Thank you for the wonderful idea!

No way can you find anything that cute in the store. These are great. Thanks for sharing. I love personalized gifts and who can't use new pot holders and dishtowels once in a while.
Thanks for sharing the tutorial I will check it out later, don't have time now.
I just adore your fabrics.
Vanessa

Thanks for this wonderful tutorial. I am in the process of making aprons for Christmas presents. Maybe if I have enough time I can make some matching pot holders.

I've been thinking about making potholders for awhile with all the fabric I have, so now I'm prompted again :-) But one question since I couldn't find it in your tutorial...what kind of batting did you use? Someone had told me that there is a special heat resistant batting you can get?

Blessings,
Tammy ~@~

Thanks for the great tutorial. I love that you put each step on there. I think I'll be adding this to my Christmas list.

Thanks for the tut Randi...love it:))

Great tutorial. I have a wedding to go to this weekend and they will make a perfect gift. Time to get busy!

Thanks Randi. I made the dishtowels today and they were a breeze with the tutorial. Going to try the hotpads tomorrow!
