...tired of this election season? I want election day to come so we can get this over with and move forward. Regardless of who wins/loses, the world will keep on spinning and we will all go on with our lives. Life will continue to be good. I promise.
...trying not to laugh over the economic headlines? The stock market is up/it's down/it's up/it's down. Investors are wary/hopeful/fearful/optimistic. I can't digest it anymore.
...a little miffed that the government wants to give us another economic stimulus check? To begin with, we don't have the money---the government's coffers appear to be empty. Have you noticed how high the deficit is? Also, it is our money in the first place. How about just giving us a tax break next time and letting us keep what we earn. The government doesn't seem to be managing it very well anyway. Enough said.
...enjoying paying less than $3.00 per gallon of gas?
...just generally tired of the bad news?
Sorry for the rant, but I am tired of all of this. Except for the downturn in gas prices, it all seems like bad news to me. I am taking the news headlines off of my homepage for a while because I don't want to keep rising and falling with the headlines.
Is our country dealing with some very difficult things right now? Yes! But we will make it through. We always do. And besides, my God is a lot bigger than any of what is swirling around right now. I would rather focus on Him and what He thinks than what the news media or the politicians decide to throw at me.
"It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes." Psalm 118:9
Be sure to have a great day. In spite of everything that is going on in the world!

AMEN Sista!

I follow your blog here and there and i couldn't agree more. I'm so tired of all of it.
Posted by: Rachael | October 22, 2008 at 08:36 AM
Amen!! I hear you loud and clear and echo those same sentiments!!
Posted by: Jackie | October 22, 2008 at 08:36 AM
I totally agree with you! I found myself rising and falling with the headlines too, so I stopped paying as close attention. I'm spending more time reading crafty blogs. Thanks for sharing the same perspective!
Posted by: Terriaw | October 22, 2008 at 08:44 AM
UGH!!! I totally agree with you. The economic stimulus kills me the most- after the last one the "news" kept saying how it didn't even work- so why do a second one? I tell ya- it seems the politicians lose a few brain cells when they get to Washington... and the news, well, they don't really report unbiased news anymore, do they?
Posted by: trishia | October 22, 2008 at 08:46 AM
I have to admit that this huge pit in my stomach is becoming part of my "normal."

I'm extra tired of elections. Here in Canada we've just had our federal election. That and all the coverage we get on your election plus the municipal election we have coming up you could say I've had my fill!! I never want to hear about voting again!
Posted by: Kathleen | October 22, 2008 at 09:19 AM
That scripture is perfect! I am so with you there. I am so sick of the election politics and the "news" I could just spit. I just want it over with!
Posted by: Stacy | October 22, 2008 at 09:22 AM
I hear you, sister! I love the perfect verse you chose from God's Word!
Posted by: Renna | October 22, 2008 at 09:54 AM
Ugh. I know. I'm so sick of both candidates that I don't want either one of them! Voting will not be a happy event.
Posted by: mary | October 22, 2008 at 10:10 AM
We had the happy fortune of having our election announced in Sept, and one month later, voting. We're done, and I'm thankful. I'm quite tired of hearing all the US campaign news myself! And I don't even live there! Maybe you can do the advance voting, and get it done with. Then just leave your tv and radio off, and keep those headlines off your homepage till it's all over.
Posted by: BJ | October 22, 2008 at 10:44 AM
AMEN, Randi!!!! I couldn't have said it better myself. Personally, I think ALL politicians are pretty much just power hungry, selfish jerks LOL I do vote though ; ) And I don't trust the media, so while I watch the news, I don't necessarily believe everything they say or at least not their spin on it. Your right, our God has everything under control. I would rather trust Him than any *man*.
AMEN to the gas prices too! I don't dread having to buy gas anymore.
Posted by: Tonya Richard | October 22, 2008 at 10:46 AM
Yes, yes, yes, yes and yes!!! I'm really tired of all this in my face all the time. I know there are important and sometimes scary things happening, but I feel like the media works overtime to whip us all into a panicked frenzy.

such wisdom...

Well said and amen to that!
Posted by: Angela | October 22, 2008 at 11:03 AM
tears in my eyes...told my husband this morning that my soul feels frayed around the edges b/c of the election and economy. He said today "no more TV or online news til the election is over"...it's a downer totally and causes me to miss seeing all the good stuff the Lord is giving me daily and distracts me from His promises. Thanks for putting into words all that I have been feeling.
Posted by: Aimee | October 22, 2008 at 11:07 AM
Wouldn't it be nice if we just had one channel for happy news!!!! I just plain quit watching the news or much TV. I decided if there was anything that I had to know my husband could tell me! He does much better with all of that stuff anyway! Here's to having the hope to get through each day with happy thoughts and lots of smiles!

Beautifully said.
Blessings,

thank you! :) although... it would be nice if our gas would go back below $3.00!! it's sitting high & dry around $3.30 right now... *sigh* :)
Posted by: mary grace | October 22, 2008 at 01:05 PM
Amen, amen, amen! I'll say it again...
Posted by: Patti | October 22, 2008 at 01:34 PM
I totally agree. I don't care for either candidate am sick of hearing them argue.
It's a good thing I don't run my finances the way the government runs theirs! We would have some big problems.
I love the scripture you chose.
Posted by: nikko | October 22, 2008 at 01:39 PM
I would rather chew glass than endure the next month of STUPID election stuff.
stupid. yeah, I said it. It's all a bunch of hooey. :)
Posted by: Emily | October 22, 2008 at 01:41 PM
Uummm...yep, sick of it all! Hey I have an idea...FIX IT! Stop the talk, and WORK! :)
Posted by: Stacey | October 22, 2008 at 03:08 PM
TOTALLY TOTALLY TOTALLY agree on all points!!!
~applaudes you~

I can't wait for this to be over...it seems like it started last year and I'm so sick of it!
Posted by: Rebekah | October 22, 2008 at 04:16 PM
You know, I was just thinking the same thing yesterday. I'm just done with it. My dh wanted me to sit and watch it with him instead of doing dishes and I said, "It was a waste of my time" :)

A mom at my son's preschool had a great idea to let the kids 'vote' on which face to carve on a pumpkin. While a great idea, even this voting process drained me.

You know, the key is remembering who the TRUE King is. It's almost over...hang in there.

I'm so thankful that God IS bigger than all of this!
Our gas is still $3.15, but dropping. . .

Posted by: Naomi | October 22, 2008 at 06:50 PM
oh I hear ya...yup indeed...tired of it...but I must admit...it reminds me of a weather report around here(pacific northwest)
it went a little bit like this??? "it may or may not rain and there may or may not be scattered showers followed by glimpses of the sun just before sun sets today"...I actually heard this weather report the other day...you just have to say "what???" and can I have his job?? can you imagine...getting paid for stating the obvious (lol)

i sure am glad God is in control of whoever wins or loses this election.
Posted by: priscilla | October 22, 2008 at 08:16 PM
Not having regular t.v. channels is wonderful. I don't listen to the radio, nor read newspapers. I do check different info online -as I feel like it. Now, if I could get the candidates telephone recorded messages to go away and all calls related to the election to end, I'd be quite content.
You are right, God is bigger and the world will keep turning. Soon gas prices will drop some more and then what will we do with all this happy-ness?! ;)
Posted by: Pam in Colorado | October 22, 2008 at 11:43 PM
Here's another AMEN! God is in control of all this and worrying about it does absolutely nothing except take our focus off HIM and rob us of our joy and peace.
Matthew 6:27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
Thanks for the perspective in this post! :)

I try not to listen to the news as it is so gloomy and miserable. Even in England I'm sick of hearing about your election, yes it's important but it seems to have been going on forever!
Posted by: French Knots | October 23, 2008 at 07:02 AM
God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. What better headline could you have than that? :o)
Posted by: This Little Piggy | October 23, 2008 at 07:23 AM
Amen. I can hardly stand it anymore.
Posted by: Joanna | October 23, 2008 at 07:40 AM
Oh so true, Randi! I must say that I never watch the news...local or otherwise. My mom knows if something of significance is going on she has to call me and let me know. Over the past couple of years, I have grown so tired of the bickering and false news reporting that I rarely watch tv, never read the paper....maybe it's a bad thing to do, I don't know. But, one thing is sure, it makes me feel better not to hear it and keeps little, senseless things from driving me crazy :) Even though I usually never watch news, I have watched bits of the conventions, debates, and some Yahoo news reports....uggh! I'll be so glad when it's over, because like you said...we're going to be alright no matter what. God really is in control!
Most people think I've lost my mind....and I'm thinking about disconnecting cable altogether because I say the only thing worth watching is a really good dvd, lol!
Posted by: Sandra | October 23, 2008 at 08:37 AM
Amen!!! You have summed up so many of my same sentiments. :)
Blessings to you and yours!!
Posted by: Kiva, Southern Girl Musings | October 23, 2008 at 08:54 AM
I feel the same as you Randi, in the end none of this matters because God is going tip the scales the way he wants them to go. I havn't hardly watched the news in years but since the GOP convention I have been addicted to FOX. I feel like I have learned a lot. maybe too much. I definately know where I live I am in the minority. Our world is changing and I don't like it, I feel if I were to speak my mind in a public place or put a bumper sticker on my car I would be persecuted. i have taken comfort in the last few weeks with exactly what you said...when this is over the world will keep spinning and God will still be in control of it all. thanks for saying what so many of us have been feeling.
Posted by: cindy | October 23, 2008 at 09:07 AM
i agree...i am tired of hearing all the political bickering and being reminded how bad the economy is. But the gas price is awesome. I hope it keeps going down!
Posted by: Leslie | October 23, 2008 at 09:13 AM
Thank you Randi for a great post! I feel exactly the same way. I love my country and it's driving me insane to listen to all the media and politicians bad mouth such a great land. I just couldn't stand listening to all the trash talk about the land that I love, so I blogged about something similar to this. My family has experienced such love and support from our community becuase of my husbands battle with cancer. Americans are loving and caring, and no one can tell me otherwise. Here's my "rant" about my Real America. Thanks again for the great post.

Can I get an amen?
Thanks for sharing the verse. It helps put things into perspective.
Posted by: Well-Mannered Frivolity | October 23, 2008 at 04:46 PM
Yes I'm sick of it too. I've already voted and so I try to ignore it now. It's hard though.
Posted by: Judy | October 23, 2008 at 07:42 PM
AMEN!
I'm so tired of all of it!
I think the election coverage began waaaaaaayyy tooooooo early this time.
I miss integrity. I'm tired of the media being "in the tank".
My son is heading back to Iraq soon. I want him to have an honorable commander-in-chief - one who supports what they are doing over there - one who will not pull the rug out from them!
Rant over.
:o)

Yes, Yes and Yes again. The news is all so depressing these days! I have been trying to avoid it lately. It just seems like we live in such a tumultous world!
As for the US elections, I admit, even though I am Canadian, I am tired of hearing about the American elections. It has been going on for so long! I am sure you will be relieved when it's all over.
