You can make this simple purse in a snap! Each step has a picture and an explanation so there is little room left for confusion. A beginning sew-er, ages 10 and up, can sew this up in an afternoon.
The finished bag measures 9" X 12" and the strap is 29" long. It is perfect for a young girl and it can be made bigger by lengthening the strap or enlarging the size of the bag. I will explain this in the last step of the tutorial.
First step? Gather your materials. I used fabric scraps to make the outside of the bag and I will give approximate measurements for that, but you may also make the outside from one piece of fabric. (See below).
Bag outside and inside pocket: fabric scraps totaling approximately 1/2 yard
Bag inside: a 1/2-yard piece of fabric
1/2 yard of fusible fleece
1 yard of webbing (this is the purse strap and you can find it at the fabric store near the ribbon)
***If you would like to make the outside of the bag out of one fabric, you will need 1/2 yard. The bag will look best if your inside and outside fabrics coordinate.
