I found the idea for these sponge balls on Betz White's blog. These were fun, inexpensive and they work well in place of water balloons. The best part is that they work over and over and over, with no refilling. You can also dry them out and store them for later use.
They make for great summer fun!

I am so excited to have found this idea! I am really NOT liking those water balloons for a multitude of reasons and these look perfect! I can't wait to make up a set of these! I think the kids would like these better too! :)

I came back to let you know how much fun we had with these sponge balls. There was much squealing and screaming in the backyard after I filled a couple of buckets and tossed them in. Great fun!

This is not because its methods are an option but they are a necessity these days.

I stopped the kids from using water balloons a while ago because of the mess to clean up after wards as well as the bigger kids sometimes taking advantage of the littler ones as they could throw harder.
These sponge balls are a fantastic idea as a replacement so thanks for sharing this.
